La sociedad americana está viviendo diferentes sucesos impactantes para la comunidad gay. Lástimosamente estos hechos no son positivos, estamos hablando del supuesto país más libre del mundo, en donde los matrimonios gays aún no están permitidos.
El último suceso fue el del joven estudiante de New Jersey Tyler Clementi, que dejó conmocionado a todo un país.
El joven de 18 años se quitó la vida saltando de un puente después de que su compañero de dormitorio, Dharun Ravi, transmitiera en directo por internet su encuentro sexual con otro chico. Ravi, de 18 años de edad al igual que Clementi, había escondido una pequeña cámara en la habitación.
El hecho ha originado una campaña de apoyo a los jóvenes homosexuales que, como él, han sido acosados, en la que han aparecido diversos actores, escritores, músicos, artistas y políticos. La última, desde el Gobierno de Estados Unidos, ha sido la poco carismática Hillary Clinton.
Estamos acostumbrados a verla amenazando constantemente a países, imponiendo sanciones a naciones pobres. Es la máxima expresión del capitalismo Americano, y por supuesto este títere responde a la política de hegemónica de los Estados Unidos.
Ahora Clinton presta su voz a favor de una buena causa, ¿algo extraño está sucediendo?, lo cierto es que su imagen es hasta el momento, la mayor muestra de apoyo oficial a los jóvenes que sufren el acoso en sus hogares o centros educativos y en Internet por el hecho de ser homosexuales.
"Tengo un mensaje para todos aquellos jóvenes que están sufriendo acoso o que se sienten solos y lo tienen difícil para imaginar un futuro mejor. Antes que nada, aguantad y pedid ayuda", dice Clinton en el vídeo.
Pero la maravillosa democrática y feliz vida americana no termina aquí, según estimaciones de Reuters, unos 150 adolescentes homosexuales se suicidan cada año en EE UU. Un estudio publicado en la revista Pediatrics en enero de 2009 revela, además, que el intento de suicidio es más común entre adolescentes que han sufrido el rechazo de su familia por motivos como el de su sexualidad.
Cuando vemos estas escalofriantes cifras, y la extrema homofobia que vive el país del Norte, podemos ver que algo está fallando en el sistema americano.
Los jóvenes no necesitan spots donde aparecen famosos, los jóvenes necesitan políticas del gobierno que respondan a sus intereses y que los defiendan como tal. Las grandes esferas políticas y los empresarios privados son los que necesitan dichos spots para sensibilizarse a contratar gente sin importar su condición sexual.
Los gobiernos no apoyan a la transexualidad, ni dan oportunidades de trabajo, tampoco se hace mucho por mejorar la educación del colectivo.
Estamos cansados de spots donde celebridades nos dicen cosas, cuando en realidad necesitamos acciones y no palabras.

American society is undergoing various shocking events for the gay community. Pitifully these facts are not positive, we are talking of course the world's freest country, where gay marriages are not yet permitted.

But the wonderful democratic and happy American life does not end there, according to Reuters estimates, about 150 gay teenagers commit suicide each year in the U.S.. A study published in the journal Pediatrics in January 2009 also reveals that the attempted suicide is more common among adolescents who have been rejected by their families for reasons such as their sexuality.
When we see these shocking figures, and extreme homophobia in the country of the North, we can see that something is wrong with the American system.
Young people do not need to appear famous spots where young people need government policies that reflect their interests and defend them as such. The major policy areas and private entrepreneurs are those spots that need to be sensitized to hire people regardless of their sex.
Governments do not support transsexuality, and provide opportunities for work, neither does much to improve the education of the collective.
We are tired of spots where celebrities tell us things when we really need action, not words.
